Behavior Management, Integrative Lesson and Scheduling Mini-Lessons

BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT

The Students were introduced to the concept of Behavior Management as a last topic of discussion before they get ready to create their mini-lessons beginning next week.

Behavior Management tips were shared through two links.

We watch this video in order to illustrate how a teacher may manage his/her classroom the first day of class. Mr. Taylor's style is not the only possible way to manage the classroom, but his organizational skills can be a good start for someone who has never taught in a classroom before.

INTEGRATED LESSON PLAN TEMPLATES

We continued by sharing a link on different templates on how to integrate the arts into the general curriculum so that students have a reference to start writing the lesson the will be teaching beginning next week.

RUBRIC FOR MIMI-LESSONS

We agreed on a simple rubric to assess the 15 minutes mini-lessons that the students will use to integrate and arts related activity with an academic subject or concept of their own. Thus, there are two parts to the final: a) Lesson Plan and b) Mini-Lesson. (See the breakdown for evaluation).

Rubric

a). Lesson Plan (50)

1. Learning Objective (10 points)
2. Introduction (10)

3. Learning Activities (20) :

  • Interact with students to actively teach (5)
  • Independent Work (5)
  • Engaging the group (5)
4. Assessment (10)

b). Mini-Lesson (50)

1. Introduction (10)
2. Learning Activities (20)
